A Northern Rivers Food Donation Tool Kit is in development and will soon be available as a shared resource to assist both food relief agencies and food donors.
It draws together information and best practice processes and strategies employed by successful food rescue organisations and will help address many of the barriers to successful collaboration between agencies and donor. These barriers were identified in last year’s Food Donation Hub Feasibility Project.
The toolkit will provide a range of templates including: letter of introduction; MOA; volunteer application form and guidelines; Food regulations, safety and handling guide; and simple data recording sheets for rescued & donated food and meals delivered.
These resources will help to save time and effort while:
- building the capacity of food relief organisations to access a greater variety and quantity of good food ;
- helping relief organisations to fairly and safely manage new volunteers ; and
- supporting food businesses to rescue and donate more quality surplus food.
